Haj Abdul Hamid Darab

Haj Abdul Hamid Darab, son of Mohammad, was born in 1920 in Sari. He studied elementary and secondary education in his hometown and completed his higher education at the University of Tehran in the field of Chemistry. Darab spent one year at Oil Company and worked for 28 years at the Ministry of Education in the position of teacher, high school principal, inspection officer, consultant of general manager and chief of Teacher Training Center in Mazandaran province.

Abdul Hamid Darab has never neglected social nonprofit services throughout the course of educational services. Since 1975, he has thought about the construction of a school named Darab which, fortunately, was established with an area of 7000 square meters in the most suitable place of Sari city. The work's sweetness encouraged him to continue his charity with the aim of education.

Darab’s spirit of valor and seeker could never pacify himself in anything other than science and education. That’s why after one year of service at the Ministry of Oil, he switched to education to acquire the techniques of love, and handle the ancient city of Sari on the path of development.

The existence of physically inappropriate schools in this city obliged Darab to step into another area of social activity and set school as a harbinger to development at the top of its priority.

In 1975, he founded his first school named Haj Abdul Hamid Darab with the area of  7000 square meters. Some of his prominent services will be presented as follow:

Construction of Darab’s elementary school in Sari with an area of 7000 square meters, construction of Valiasr and Fatemiyeh girls' high schools with an area of 5000 square meters, construction of a pre-university center of Monir Aghdas Mortazavi with a total area of 5000 square meters, construction of Techno-Vocational school of Sport Sciences with a total area of 4000 square meters, donation of a land to a higher in-service center of Farhangiyan  with an area of 5000 square meters, donation of a land to researches’ center of Mazandaran Education & Research Organization with an area of 5000 square meters, donation of a land to Shahed high school with an area of 6000 square meters, donation of a land to Shahed elementary school with an area of area of 6000 square meters, donation of a land to Shahid Hasheminejad Institute (technical No. 2) with an area of 5000 square meters, donation of a land to Mazandaran Medical Sciences University with a total area of 5000 square meters, donation of a land to Imam Reza School of Science and Work with an area of 5000 square meters, donation of a land to Department of Rehabilitation, develop and equip Mazandaran schools with an area of 4000 square meters, donation of a land to primary school of the Bala Abdang village of Sari with an area of 6000 square meters, donation of a land to sport ground of Hemmat Abad village of Sari with a total area of 12000 square meters, and donation of a land to Mazandaran Physical Education Department for the purpose of sport services with a total area of 5000 square meters.

Moreover, two schools of Khosraviyeh and Nawab Elliyeh, which are their ancestral heritage, have a history of 190 years. It should be noted that Khosraviyeh school with a total area of 3000 square meters was reconstructed about three decades ago and pre-university center of Nawab Elliyeh with an area of 6000 square meters was constructed in 1998 with the assistance of the Mazandaran school of Rehabilitation in five floors.
