Dr. Hossein Eslami Saravi

Dr. Hossein Eslami Saravi is known as a professor, philanthropist, writer, historian, researcher, religious and social activist, and the owner of Safaeiyeh orphanage, mosque, and library. These days, he has been running the center of Sari Shenasi (discovering Sari), which is now the largest cultural historical, and research institution. This center was established and opened in 2010. Shall you require any communication with this center; you can contact them with the phone number 00989111521356 or via email: hosein.eslami.saravy@gmail.com.

In his library, the sections of Ashura and Imam Hussein (AS) have been decorated in a different way and a lot of books are available in this regard. His latest work is Mazandaran in History with two editions.

He walks barefoot during Ashura processions and is fascinated by Imam Hussein.

His major current preoccupation is disappearance of the language of Mazandaran (Mazandarani). After trying diligently for years, he had finally gotten the approval of Education Council to allow teachers to speak Mazandarani with students in the classroom.

Now, he is concerned to write a book named the History of Mazandaran’s Last Thousand Years for the first time, with Mazandarani language for the people of his homeland. The first phase of his work which includes children books has been finished. He is really in rush and says that I am a 70-year-old man who is approaching the death. “I have unfinished work, and my major concern is Mazandarani language.” he stated.

He breathes heavily with tearful eyes and continues that if this language vanishes, we will be dead.

He gets very nervous when Mazandaran has been left solely to a lack of industry or business while other provinces have benefitted them. Although he is in favor of tourism and hospitality, he strongly opposed selling the land for building skyscrapers or villas. “It is a great shame that Sari city, center of Mazandaran province, lacks a museum.” he declared loudly.
